PHCC talks about name change some more

Tuesday, June 15

PHCC board will have a special called meeting at noon.

Spencer-Penn Center Passport around the World summer camp series for ages 7-9 from 2-5 p.m also summer camp.

Yoga with Sheila Hubbard is at 4 p.m. at Spencer Center.

Wednesday, June 16

Blue Ridge Regional Library Board of Trustees meet at noon at the Martinsville Library.

Drug-free MHC end of year meeting at noon.

Thursday, June 16

Henry County School Board will have a special meeting on its fiscal year budget closeout at 9 a.m. followed by a closed session.

American Red Cross blood drive is at 2-6 p.m. at the New Life Community Church.

Friday, June 18

In observance of Juneteenth, the City Municipal Building and administrative offices

along with Constitutional offices will be closed Friday, June 18th, 2021. Employees in essential operational positions (Police, Fire, EMS, water/sewer plant operations) will continue on their normal schedule. There will be no bulk, or brush pick-up on Friday, June 18th.

Matter of balance workshop series will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Southern Area Agency on Aging, 204 Cleveland Avenue in Martinsville.

American Red Cross blood drive is from 1-6 p.m. at Blackberry Baptist Church. 

Saturday, June 19

Uptown Martinsville Farmers Market will be open from 7 a.m. until noon.

Free drive-thru community breakfast from 8-9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Patrick Henry Avenue in Martinsville. 

Tim Gilbert Memorial Golf Tournament is at 1 p.m. at Forest Park Country Club.

Oak Level Ruritan Club quarter auction is at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Concert with the band FATZ from 8-10 p.m. at the Fieldale Recreation Center on the outdoor stage. Admission is $5.

Tuesday, June 22

Piedmont Arts will continue its 60th anniversary celebration with a catered luncheon on Tuesday, June 22 at noon at the museum. The event will feature speakers on the history and progress of Piedmont Arts, including former Executive Director Toy Cobbe and Julie Ascough Work, granddaughter of Michael “Big Mike” and Purnell Schottland, whose heirs donated their former home to Piedmont Arts. Single seats and table reservations are available. Single seats are $30. A table of six is $180. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts and PiedmontArts.org.

Friday, July 9

Summer is just around the corner and it’s the perfect time for a cookout. Luckily, Piedmont Arts has it covered with Franks + Dranks, a cookout-themed summer party, on Friday, July 9, 2021, at 6 pm in the Gravely-Lester Art Garden. Enjoy music, beer, wine, and all the hot dogs and fixins you can eat. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts and online at PiedmontArts.org.
