Half the gas stations in Virginia without gas, President says culprits live in Russia

If you’ve been able to get gas here locally, consider the situation if you intend to travel right now. According to GasBuddy, a company that provides apps and websites featuring real-time gas prices, 50% of the stations in the commonwealth are out of gasoline. Charlottesville leads the pack with 72% of stations without gas. Richmond and Harrisonburg are in the middle at 50%. The availability of gas is connected to a reported cybersecurity incident on the Colonial Pipeline. The Associated Press reports gas stations across the south reported running out of fuel primarily because of panic-buying among drivers. Colonial initiated the restart of pipeline operations late Wednesday, but estimates are it will be between 7 and 14 days before the situation returns to normal in Virginia.

President Joe Biden said Thursday that U.S. officials do not believe the Russian government was involved in the hack of the Colonial Pipeline, which stretches from Texas to New Jersey. But he added, We do have strong reason to believe that the criminals who did the attack are living in Russia.
