Republicans choose nominee for Governor on Saturday

The Virginia Republican Party will hold its convention this Saturday to choose the nominee for governor. You needed to sign up in advance as a delegate in your district in order to cast a ballot this Saturday.

Delegates will vote by car drive-through at one of 39 locations statewide. More than 53,000 Virginian Republicans registered as a delegate to cast their vote for governor.

Each delegate will cast one ballot, ranking each candidate from favorite to least favorite. Ballots will be tallied over and over, dropping the candidate in last place each time. When a voter’s first choice is cut, their second choice gets counted.

This ranked-choice voting requires a majority to win.
