Martinsville – Senator Bill Stanley visited the Stone family to present a Memorial Resolution in memory of the late Elizabeth Stone. Mrs. Stone served Henry County for over 40 years as the county’s Registrar. During that period, Mrs. Stone oversaw 12 elections for the President, 11 elections for the Governor, and hundreds of state and local elections. The Virginia Senate was proud to recognize her service to the Commonwealth and the impactful life she led.
Senator Stanley made the following statement: “It was such an honor today to present to the wonderful family of Elizabeth Stone, the Henry County Registrar for over 40 years, a Memorial Resolution passed by the Virginia State Senate this session, honoring her life of service to our community and to Virginia. She was such a special person and I was honored to know her. She was tireless in ensuring that every election in Henry County was both open and fair. I am eternally grateful for her advice and good counsel over the years. Her son E.C. runs our local SPCA shelter in Martinsville, and both he and his family are forever dedicated to care of our community and companion animals. They are truly some of the finest people that I have ever had the privilege to meet.”
