Lyrid Meteor Shower peaks Wednesday night

The annual Lyrid Meteor Shower occurs in mid-April and this year will be visible from April 16 to April 25 with peak viewing between midnight April 21 and dawn on April 22. The meteors appear to originate near the star Vega in the northeast sky.

The rate will only be 10 to 15 meteors per hour, and the best time to view the Lyrids is between midnight to dawn.
